Determine which English and Math course is best for you. There are different ways to make this determination, choose the one you are most comfortable with.

Options to Determine Your Course Placement

College transcripts are evaluated for transfer of credit and reviewed to exempt a student from taking all or portions of the assessment tests (Math and English). Please see theIntake form for Admissions.

Please submit your high school transcripts to registration and records.

Gateway-Level Math Course without a Support Course

If you are currently in or graduated high school within the past five years with a 3.0 cumulative unweighted GPA or passed Geometry, Algebra II, or Pre-Calculus (or the integrated Math equivalent) with a "B" grade or better, you can enroll in any gateway-level math course without a support course.

Gateway-Level Math Course with a Support Course

If you are currently in or graduated high school within the past five years and passed Geometry, Algebra II, or Pre-Calculus but do not meet the GPA or grade requirements, then you should consider a gateway-level math course with the appropriate support course.

Gateway-Level English Course without a Support Course

If you are currently in or graduated high school within the past five years with a 3.0 cumulative unweighted GPA and passed English III or AP English with a "B" grade or better, you can enroll in any gateway-level English course without a support course.

Gateway-Level English Course with a Support Course

If you are currently in or graduated high school within the past five years and passed English III or AP English, but do not meet the GPA or grade requirements, then you should consider a gateway-level English course with the appropriate support course

GED, HiSET, TASC, PARCC, and SBAC scores can also be reviewed. Please submit your high school transcripts to registration and records.

ACT, SAT, and Accuplacer test scores from within the past five years can also be reviewed.Please submit your high school transcripts to registration and records.

English

After taking this survey, you decide if you should take a college-level English course, a college-level English course WITH a support course, or a pre-college level English course first. Selecting one of these paths will help inform which English class you will take.

Math

Once you know your placement, you can select your specific class. There are two Self-Assessment options based on the math course required for your program of study—be sure to choose the correct one.
